The recombinant rat TNFRSF13C comprises 73 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 8.3 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of  the recombinant protein is approximately 20 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

BAFFR / TNFRSF13C蛋白背景綜述

Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 13C, also known as B-cell-activating factor receptor, BAFF receptor, BLyS receptor 3, CD268, TNFRSF13C and BAFFR, is a single-pass type III membrane protein which contains one?TNFR-Cys repeat. TNFRSF13C / BAFFR is highly expressed in spleen and lymph node, and in resting B-cells. It is detected at lower levels in activated B-cells, resting CD4+ T-cells, in thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. TNFRSF13C / BAFFR is a B-cell receptor specific for TNFSF13B / TALL1 / BAFF / BLyS. TNFRSF13C / BAFFR promotes the survival of mature B-cells and the B-cell response. Defects in TNFRSF13C are the cause of immunodeficiency common variable type 4 (CVID4) which is a primary immunodeficiency characterized by antibody deficiency, hypogammaglobulinemia, recurrent bacterial infections and an inability to mount an antibody response to antigen. The defect results from a failure of B-cell differentiation and impaired secretion of immunoglobulins.
