The recombinant cynomolgus TNFSF13B is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 412 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 45.5 KDa.The apparent molecular mass of the protein is approximately 47 KDa respectively in SDS-PAGE.

BAFF / TNFSF13B蛋白背景綜述

Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 13B (TNFSF13B), also known as B cell-activating factor, CD257 and BAFF, is single-pass type I I membrane protein. It belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. BAFF is abundantly expressed in peripheral blood Leukocytes and is specifically expressed in monocytes and macrophages. BAFF is also found in the spleen, lymph node, bone marrow, T-cells and dendritic cells. A lower expression of BAFF is found in placenta, heart, lung, fetal liver, thymus, and pancreas. BAFF is a cytokine and serves as a ligand for receptors TNFRSF13B (TACI), TNFRSF17 (BCMA), and TNFRSF13C (BAFFR). These receptors are expressed mainly on mature B lymphocytes, and TACI binds with lowest affinity. TACI binds a protein similar to BAFFcalled A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL) with high. BCMA displays an intermediate binding phenotype and performs functions with either BAFF or APRIL to varying degrees. BAFF acts as a potent B cell activator and has been shown to play an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells.
