Ephrin-A4 / EFNA4蛋白背景綜述
Mouse ephrin-A4, also known as EPH-related receptor tyrosine kinase ligand 4, LERK-4 and EFNA4, is a cell membrane and secreted protein which belongs to the ephrin family. Ephrin-A4 / EFNA4 is expressed in the ***** spleen, lymph node, prostate, ovary, small intestine, and colon, and in fetal heart, lung, liver and kidney. It is also detected in hematopoietic cell lines. Ephrin-A4 / EFNA4 may play a role in the interaction between activated B lymphocytes and dendritic cells in tonsils. EFNA4-EphA2 interactions are involved in Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cell trafficking between blood and the tissues and this may become a therapeutic target in the future.
The ephrins (EPH) and EPH-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases (RTKs), and have been involved in a variety of biological processes, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis, such as axon guidance and topographic map formation, synaptic plasticity, angiogenesis, and meanwhile have possible contributions to tumor growth and metastasis. Based on their structures and sequence relationships, ephrins are divided into the ephrin-A (EFNA) class which are anchored to the membrane by a GPI linkage, and the ephrin-B (EFNB) class, which are transmembrane proteins. 14 receptors and 8 ligands have been reported in mammals.
