IGFBP4蛋白背景綜述
Mouse insulin-like growth factor binding protein 4 (IGFBP4), is one of the six Insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs) , that control bioavailability, activity, and distribution of insulin-like growth factor (IGF)1 and 2 through high-affinity IGFBP/IGF interactions. Despite their structural similarity,each IGFBPs has unique properties and exhibits specific functions. IGFBP4 has an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. It binds IGFs and circulates in the plasma in both glycosylated and non-glycosylated forms. Binding of this protein prolongs the half-life of the IGFs and alters their interaction with cell surface receptors. It is suggested that IGFBP4 is a unique protein in that it consistently inhibits several cancer cells in vivo and in vitro through a mechanism dependent or independent of IGFs. Overexpression of IGFBP4 in transgenic animal models causes reduced growth of organs containing smooth muscle.
